The Quantum Astrologer’s Handbook: a history of the Renaissance mathematics that birthed imaginary numbers, probability, and the new physics of the universe by Michael Brooks.
A biography of Jerome Cardano, 16th century mathematician and astronomer, who was apparently involved in establishing the mathematical foundations of quantum physics. I love discovering forgotten–and preferably eccentric–scientists, so is this is my kind of read!
Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes
For sci-fi humor fans, this first-in-a-series space opera looks like a fun read, perhaps with a few echoes of Douglas Adams in there. It’s drawn some mixed reviews online, but wouldn’t life be boring if we all liked the same books?
Dark Skies: a practical guide to astrotourism by Valerie Stimac
This astronomy travel guide would surely make the perfect gift for the stargazer in your life (hope my wife is reading this). It also includes a section on space tourism. Shall we try Mars or the Moon this year, darling?
Reecah’s Gift by Richard H. Stephens
Follow the further adventures of Reecah Windwalker and her dragon friends in book 2 of the Legends of the Lurker series, released on September 17. Book 3 is slated for publication in December, so not long to wait for the next installment!
