The Canadian Conservatives are continuing their attack on science and education: this time by cutting funding to Science World in British Columbia. Science World is a non-profit center dedicated to teaching children about science in an informal way.
Reaching out to children at an early age and developing their interest in science is vital to our future. Without them, Canada will only slip backwards in science and technology, becoming increasingly dependent on others to do research and (if they are generous enough) allow us to make use of some of their crumbs.
These attacks are about political goals, not financial restrictions. Science teaches people to think, to be critical in their judgement – the Conservatives certainly don’t want that.
