Apart from my monthly new reads column, it’s been a while since I posted on my blog, so time for an update. The reason(s) for that have been all good (I hope!). I’ve finished off my next novel, entitled Logan’s World. This is the first in a new series, featuring Joe Ballen’s friend, Logan Twofeathers, as the main character. It’s currently in the hands of my editor, and she gave it a thumbs up on her preliminary read (though the devil is always in the detail). I was originally hoping to have it published before the end of the year, but it looks like it will now be out early in 2020. Depending on how hard she is on me 🙂 .
Logan’s World takes place not long after the events in Transformation Protocol (Joe Ballen, book 3). No need to have read the Ballen series beforehand, but if you have, you’ll perhaps have a better understanding of some of the references and enjoy it a little more.

I’ve not mentioned this before, but the Joe Ballen novels (and soon, Logan Twofeathers series) are all set in a larger-scale timeline I’ve outlined, forming a loose history going into the future that connects all the stories. They won’t all necessarily feature the same characters/settings, but will have this shared background, highlighting humanity’s first steps into the universe.
I originally nicknamed this the Ballenverse! But it’s since had a provisional upgrade and is now called the U’Gan Confluence. Eagle-eyed readers of the Joe Ballen series might have an inkling as to where the name comes from. The rest of you? Well, you’ll have to wait to find out (and why haven’t you read them? They’re fantastic!). 🙂
Another thing that’s kept me busy–I’ve also finished the first draft of another novel. This one is still early in its editing cycle, and I’m not going to reveal too much about it, other than it’s not part of the U’Gan Confluence, and it’s very much tongue-in-cheek and full of humor. Right now, it’s code-name is “Fish,” and I’m not giving out any other clues at the moment. 🙂
I also had a couple of fall book events that required some prep–and travel-time: The Eden Mills Writers’ Festival and NerdCon in Sault Saint Marie. Those are the last for me this year. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to chat and showed an interest in my books. Your support means so much!
